Christ the Redeemer
Christ the Redeemer, in Portuguese Cristo Redentor, one of the most admired and visited monuments of Rio de Janeiro, has been recently named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, in a list compiled by the Swiss-based The New Open World Corporation. The statue is located on top of a mountain, the Corcovado, 710 meter height. From there what is seen is pure ecstasy: Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Botanic Garden, Jockey Club, the Rodrigo de Freitas lake, in other words, a fantastic Rio de Janeiro in day light, and an illuminated and magic city at night.Photo: Christian Knepper/Embratur
